Text: “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains.” – Matthew 24:15, 16.
Comment: While the above prophecy made by Jesus Christ have far-reaching significance, the point being advanced is that, in this age of his second coming, all who love the praise of God (symbolically termed Judaea) should “escape to the mountain” which is God’s Organization, for refuge. (Psalm 91:1, 2; Proverbs 18:10) Lot and his two daughters foreshadow those who pay heed to the warning now given by the servants of God for all to repent of their sins and associate themselves with His Kingdom Organization. In contrast, his wife stands for those who receive the warning but are unable to remain steadfast unto the end, who, in the words of Paul the apostle, receive “the grace of God in vain.” (2 Corinthians 6:1) “As pilgrims in a sinful world on pilgrimage to Paradise, may onward march be our watchword, remembering the fall of Lot’s wife.”
