Text: “For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds.” – 2 Peter 2:8.
Comment: Sodom and Gomorrah were the “headquarters” of immorality. They were preoccupied with one grievous sin – homosexuality, which the Almighty God is strongly against. (Romans 1:24, 27; Jude 7) In spite of the admonition and plea from righteous Lot for them not to indulge in such abominable act, the men of Sodom stuck to their guns by insisting that the two angels under his protection be brought out. In the long run, they were struck with blindness. For this despicable sin, the two cities were completely destroyed, wiped out of the surface of the earth. Lot and his two daughters were saved. Thus, Lot was delivered from the doom. That was the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah. (2 Peter 2:6-9; Deuteronomy 29:23) Righteousness indeed, saves!
