Theme: Be Careful for Nothing

Text: “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” – Philippians 4:6.

Comment: By exhorting Christians to be careful for nothing, St. Paul meant that we should not be anxious or worried about anything so much as to be weighed down by it. Anxiety does not solve problems but complicates issues and robs one of his joy and happiness. Jesus Christ said: “Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?” (Matthew 6:27) Rather, as Christ said, “…Take no thought for thy life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on…. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? (Matthew 6:25-30) We should, therefore, take our problems to God in prayers and continue to exercise faith in Him by His grace. – Psalm 55:22; 1 Peter 5:7.
