Theme: SPIRITUAL MINDEDNESS, KEY TO HEALTHY LIVING

Text: “The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.”  – Proverbs 18:10.

Comment: Worrying is perhaps one of the most common problems among men. ‘Confirmed worriers’ will complain about the weather, the past, the present, the future, about work, about food, clothing and drink, about those who are present and those who are absent. Nothing escapes their attention as they bring sadness and woe on themselves. Those who worry a lot are usually very selfish because they are always thinking or fussing over themselves and their family members and perhaps friends.  It has been said that worrying ‘is slow suicide’. It has been proven that those who worry a lot are usually in poor health, which grows progressively worse. Apart from various ulcers and problems of indigestion, there are several other mental and physical troubles that are due to worrying.

Instead of wasting time and energy worrying over ‘what might be’ it is better to give oneself to memorizing Bible texts, prayer, discoursing Bible topics, physical exercise and discussions with people of spiritual character. We should mark the words in the following passage:  “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust… Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.” – Psalm 91:1-6.
