Theme: IS IT VAIN TO SERVE GOD?

Text: “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.” – Psalm 37:25, 24.

Comment: The intent of the devil in troubling the people of God is to weaken their love for God, diminish their interest to serve Him and ultimately backslide from the true way, the way of life. Where such ones by the grace of God are able to resist him in faith (James 4:7; Matthew 10:16), he leaves them to seek for other vulnerable candidates who may be spiritually careless. The devil was shamelessly mistaken when he thought that Job’s love for God was because of the protection and profound benefits he was enjoying at the instance of the Almighty God. The torment he was passing through due to the sore boils, the anguish of losing his wealth and the bereavement he suffered at the death of his children were just not enough to make him fall from his steadfastness. The gladsome news that greeted his latter end should be our consolation so as to strengthen and stabilize us when we face the storms of life. – 1 Corinthians 15:58; Romans 8:35, 37; James 5:10, 11.
