Theme: THE TRIAL OF OUR FAITH

Text: “These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give them their meat in due season.” – Psalms 104:27.

Comment: Financial difficulties have assumed unprecedented levels across most parts of the globe in this age. Extreme poverty poses a wide range of tempting situations, which challenges the faith of the faithful. Some who cannot endure financial difficulties resort to bribe taking. Thus bribery has become a rampaging scourge in the society. Christians must resist partaking in giving or taking bribes; instead, when faced with financial challenges, we should share such problems with others, continue to work hard and wait on the Lord as stated in the text for today. The advice given by John the Baptist to the Publicans and soldiers in those days is instructive; “Exact no more than that which is appointed you…Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.” (Luke 3:13,14) Bribe taking is a grievous sin in the sight of God and all true worshippers must run away from such acts irrespective of the difficulties of life. David the Sweet Psalmist of Israel assured; “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” – Psalms 37:25.
