Theme: Wilful Idleness And Willing Workers

Text: “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give him that needeth.” – Ephesians 4:28.

Comment: Stealing is against the laws of God, (Exodus 20:15; Leviticus 19:11) The Scripture is crystal clear as to the fact that those who steal will not enter the Kingdom of God. Our Almighty Father expects His children to love Him and to also love their neighbours as themselves. Unfortunately, it has become a common occurrence that many who profess the Christian faith and claim to serve God involve themselves in corrupt practices where they work, by stealing from the coffers of government, and from the business resources where they work. Others commit armed robbery thereby depriving innocent persons of their hard-earned cash and properties, while many more are involved in kidnapping for ransom, armed banditry, bank robbery, breaking and entry to steal, money rituals, etc. They most times don’t care about the suffering their victims pass through, nor do they care about taking innocent lives in course of their nefarious activities. All these for the sole aim of acquiring wealth at all costs.

At a period as this when evil has permeated the whole world, children of God are reminded that the Lord requires us to espouse love among ourselves in all we do. Scripture says, “…Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” -Romans 13:9-10
