Theme: Tolerance and Peaceful Co-existence

Text: “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:15.

Comment: There are highly recommended examples in the Bible when people of God did not revenge wrongs done to them.  David was a man of great courage and faith in God. King Saul, full of envy over David’s growing popularity made desperate attempts to kill him but God protected David. When David had the opportunity to kill Saul, he refused to do so saying that he would not put forth his hand against the Lord’s anointed. (1 Samuel 24:1-15; 26:6-25) David repaid the evil deeds of Saul to him with extreme kindness (1 Samuel 24:17, 18) King Saul later died in disgrace. This is a great lesson for us to refrain from harming those who are opposed to us. “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” – Romans 12:21.
