Theme: THE GOLDEN RULE

Text: “If ye fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well.” – James 2:8.

Comment: Certainly, it is when we appreciate the fact that man is created in the image and likeness of God and that we are accountable to our Maker that would strive to do the will of God and hold our neighbours in high regard.  God Almighty commanded us thus, “thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself”. (Leviticus 19:18)  This is the Royal Law.  God declares through Isaiah the prophet that one who helps anyone in need is doing so to himself, as it is written, “Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? (Isaiah 58:6, 7) Our Saviour further states that God will reward each person as he had helped others. He stated, “Give, and it shall be given to you; good measure, pressed, and shaken, and running over, they shall give into your bosom; for with that measure with which ye measure, it shall be measured to you again”. – Luke 6:38.
