Text: “Amaziah was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem… And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, but not with a perfect heart.” – 2 Chronicles 25:1, 2.
Comment: The leading text for today, highlights the importance of a good heart condition in the service of God. Amaziah the king did good works in those days, but his heart was not good hence he lost his reward. Likewise, there are some today, who are given to good works but they have an evil mind against their brothers and sisters. This is not good. The Holy Bible shows clearly that it is only God who can see the heart and nothing can be hidden from Him. (Jeremiah 17:10) Apostle Paul admonished: “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” – Colossians 3:23, 24; Ephesians 6:8, Galatians 6:7, 8.
