Theme: BE YE DOERS OF THE WORD

Text: “Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions that they have exceeded. He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity. If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.” – Job 36:9-11

Comment: Due to the influence of the devil, the people of God are sometimes misled into doing things that are contrary to the will of God. In that condition, they will be in spiritual darkness and the blessings of God will continue to elude them. Their prayers will not be answered by Him. They therefore need the light of God to find their way back to Him.  God Almighty, being a merciful Father, gives His people the opportunity to repent by using His servants to enlighten them and make their errors known to them.  Those who realize their faults and repent of their sins will be forgiven by Him. The converse of the text for today is that “…if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and they shall die without knowledge”. (Job 36:9-12) The key to getting the forgiveness and mercy of God is to (1) hear His word; (2) accept or acknowledge one’s faults; and (3) to refrain from committing such errors again. King Solomon stated: “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Happy is the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.” – Proverbs 28:13,14.
