Theme: THE GOLDEN RULE

Text: “But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” – 1 John 3:17, 18.

Comment: For one to have the love of God, it must be practically demonstrated. Some people pay lip-service to the command of God on love for one another. They preach love and talk about it but their hearts and deeds show the opposite. Today’s admonition is geared towards seeking the interest or well-being of others especially those in need, whenever the need arises. (Romans 15:1-3) Those whom God has blessed or are in a position to help or render assistance to others should not hesitate to do so. The Holy Bible tells us that whatever we have is from God. (1 Corinthians 4:7; Deuteronomy 8:17, 18) By being charitable, we are expressing love and keeping to God’s commandments. Those whom God has blessed and they refuse to render help to others in need, do not have the love of God. – Proverbs 3:27, 28. Read also Romans 12:9, 10; Galatians 6:9, 10.
