Text: “I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause”. – Job 5:8.
Comment: When faced with the storms of life such as illnesses, unemployment, economic/financial difficulties, marital challenges, etc., some give in to the unwholesome idea of seeking help from necromancers, fortune-tellers, soothsayers, witches and wizards as well as those using occultic powers in an attempt to find out the cause and solution to their problems. These are all abominations in the sight of God. (Deuteronomy 18:10-12; Leviticus 19:31) In this regard, Isaiah the prophet warned worshippers of God: “And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? …” (Isaiah 8:19, 20) As true worshippers of God, we are admonished not to be too anxious but to commit our concerns in supplication to God in prayer. (Philippians 4:6, 7) If we do this, we are assured of God’s grace in granting us our heart desires. Job the patriarch said: “Oh that I might have my request; and that God would grant me the thing that I long for!” – Job 6:8. See also Psalm 37:3-5.
