Theme: COMMENTARY ON THE BOOK OF JUDE
Text: “But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.” – Jude 17, 18.
Comment: These mockers being spoken of are those who have no faith in the truth preached by the true servants of God as stated in the Bible. These people carry on with their lives, doing as they please without regard to the law of God. Because these people lack the spirit of God, they cannot take spiritual things seriously nor understand the Scriptures. “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14) The Bible says such proud people will be many in the last days. That was why Apostle Peter stated: “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.” (2 Peter 3:3, 4) St. Paul advised Timothy thus: “If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness, he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions, useless wranglings of men of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. From such withdraw yourself.” – 1 Timothy 6:3-5, New King James Version.
