Theme: GOD'S WORD - A LAMP TO MY FEET
Text: “My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee. Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.” – Proverbs 7:1, 2.
Comment: For the true convert, obedience to God’s statutes is a culture. (See Proverbs 7:3, 4) Having imbibed the wholesome word of God, the next step is to internalise same by allowing it guide our thoughts, influence our utterances, mold our character, and direct our feet in the path of righteousness, etc. (Proverbs 6:20-23) The above justifies the reason why we should hold God’s word in very high esteem so that our lives will be better-off in this world and in the world to come, eternal life will be our lot by God’s grace. “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.” – Job 23:12. See also Proverbs 3:13-18; 4:5-9.
