Theme: INTEGRITY

Text: “Thou has a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments: and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.” – Revelation 3:4.

Comment: To find favour with God, Christians must detach themselves from the corruption and defilement multiplying in the world today. This was the case with a few in the Church at Sardis, who, as the New Living Bible puts it “haven’t soiled their garment with the world’s filth”. (Revelation 3:4) Notice that the majority of people walk in opposition to God, a situation that is widespread today. Let us remember that the Bible warns us not to follow a multitude to do evil. (Exodus 23:2) .Unfortunately today, it is becoming more and more difficult  to distinguish many Christians from  non-Christians, judging from their way of speaking and behaving. This is because the Churches have given themselves to worldliness to a large degree. As time is running out, Christians need to take sober stock of themselves and be firm in living the life of Christ to the shame of the devil and his agents. (Romans 13:11-14) We should all, like Job, tell ourselves: “Till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me. My righteousness I hold fast and will not let it go…” (Job 27:5) We should take a cue also from Lot who found himself in a depraved world as we find ourselves today but refused to be like them’; rather he was ‘vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked.” – 2 Peter 2:7.
