Theme: WORKING OUT OUR SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING

Text: “Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’s side? let him come unto me…”– Exodus 32:26.

Comment: The fall of Lucifer, now known as satan, dragon, serpent and devil has created a big gulf between light and darkness, truth and falsehood, righteousness and unrighteousness, and so on. Everyone is now to decide to take his stand on the vantage ground of truth and righteousness so as to be in favour with God Almighty and be saved, or to be in opposition and be damned.  The Almighty God instructed Moses to come up to the mountain and to collect the Ten Commandments. But before he came down, the children of Israel had slipped back into idolatry in direct opposition to God who had delivered them from their troubles.  On his return Moses made the statement as is in the text for today. (Exodus 32:26) Above three thousand people who refused to come to the Lord’s side were killed. For true Christians, the love of God takes precedence over fleshly considerations. When young Jonathan observed that his father, King Saul, was not following the way of God and was trying to kill David who had been anointed as the next king, he (Jonathan) did not take sides with his father. (1 Samuel 20)  One should be ready to part company with those closely related to one once their ways are opposed to the truth. Jesus Christ said: “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife and children and brethren and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple” – Luke 14:26
