Theme: Christians and Vows

Text: “Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed; I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids, Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.” – Psalm 132:1-5.

Comment: In those days, King David was renowned for his determination to accomplish anything he sets out to do. He prepared the materials for the building of the house of God, but God stopped him from building His place of worship because he “hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars” (1 Chronicles 22:8) “Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house, and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the LORD. (Haggai 1:8) Therefore, true worshippers of God are to contribute in no small measure using all their resources, talents, energies towards the building of New Jerusalem. Vows made in self-denial towards the growth of the kingdom work are worthwhile with the assurance of the rich blessings from above, “manifold more in this present time and in the world to come life everlasting” – Luke 18:30.
