Theme: THE SAVING AND HEALING POWER OF GOD ALMIGHTY

Text: “And there sat a certain man at Lystra, impotent in his feet, being a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked: The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.” – Acts 14:8-10.

Comment:  At Lystra, a man who had been a cripple from birth, heard the preaching of Apostle Paul, “who steadfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed, Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.” (Acts 14:8-10) This caused no small amazement among the people who saw them as gods deserving of worship. The fact however was that God moved St. Paul to heal the man due to his faith. Indeed faith does wonders. A publication in the BBC website acknowledged that there had been cases of miraculous recoveries from illnesses which medical doctors thought were beyond cure. “A few patients have made rare and unexpected recoveries leaving doctors scratching their heads …”  the report said while quoting Armin Rashidi of Washington University in St Louis who stated that he had found  46 cases in which acute myeloid leukemiaregressed of its own accord!  In his letter to the Christians at Phillipi, St. Paul expressed joy that God healed one of the faithful disciples working with him, called Epaphroditus. Concerning him he wrote: “For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick. For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not  on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.” – Philippians 2:26, 27.
