Theme: AVENGE NOT YOURSELVES
Text: “Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people”. – Deuteronomy 32:43.
Comment: God Almighty is a God of justice. However, He deals patiently with the children of men. And for this reason, many ignorantly take advantage of His patience, to continue in wickedness, thinking they will go scot free. It was the Preacher, King Solomon who stated, “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil”. Continuing, he added: “Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God”. – Ecclesiastes 8:11-12.
The essence of the patience of God on men is for those that are wise to make amends, turn to the side of righteousness and enjoy the mercies of God. The prophet Isaiah stated, “Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon”. – Isaiah 55:7; Hebrews 8:12.
