Text: “Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.” – Isaiah 38:2,3.
Comment: In those days, the king Hezekiah was reported to have been buffeted with an undisclosed ailment which almost cost him his life. Isaiah the prophet was sent by God to inform him, “Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.” It was in response to this message that Hezekiah made the prayer as captured above. He, our God, in exercise of His steadfast love, acknowledged the good deeds of the king over the years. In His mercy, He instructed Isaiah, “Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years…” – Isaiah 38:5,6.
The beauty in being zealous in the work of God lies in the fact that “God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” – Hebrews 6:10.
