Text: “When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also”. – 2 Timothy 1:5
Comment: Timothy is an example of a Christian who learnt a good lesson from the scripture and showed faith. Giving expression to this fact, St. Paul expressed his desire to see Timothy as found in the text under reference. Faith is one of the qualities on which the fundamental rules of Christianity are based and no one can please God without it. It is the assent of the mind to, or a firm belief on the truth of God’s word as enshrined in the Holy Bible. It follows therefore that through faith we can hope for and be certain of realities we do not see. In this vein, St. Paul in his letter to the Hebrews declared: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.” – Hebrew 11:1,2; Romans 8:24
