Theme: LORD, WHO SHALL ABIDE IN THY TABERNACLES?
Text: “These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgement of truth and peace in your gates.” – Zechariah 8:16.
Comment: It is disheartening to observe how, despite repeated warnings from the Holy Book, some derive pleasure in telling lies, even if there is nothing at stake. Taking lie-telling as a hobby, is an act that should never be identified with persons desirous of everlasting life. (Proverbs 10:23; 1 Peter 3:10) Even if one is still punished after admitting his error, there is that inner peace within one’s self that he has done the right thing. This is understanding and spiritual maturity. Conversely, an offence is twice committed when it is denied. In adjudicating over matters, judges are charged not to pervert the cause of justice for material, financial or whatever benefits, thereby making the victim to become the offender while the offender has the last laugh. (Job 20:5) The preacher puts it this way: “Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: But it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God.” – Ecclesiastes 8:12, 13.
