Theme: OVERCOMING BEHAVIOURAL DISORDER

Text: “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.” – Psalm 42:11.

Comment: Depression belongs to the Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Due to certain challenges of life which makes it seem as if things are not going well, some persons have overwhelming thoughts of themselves as good-for-nothing. In very extreme cases, suicidal thoughts may come to the mind as a way of putting an end to such worry once and for all. It should be borne in mind that suicide is not an option as no one has the right to take one’s life. In mild cases, persons with such disorder engage in house chores absent-mindedly. Such persons need to encourage themselves in the Lord as David did. (1 Samuel 30:1-6) They should look to God Almighty and believe firmly in His promises. (Isaiah 45:22; 3:10; Jeremiah 29:11). Such persons should also seek counselling from professionals.
