Theme: WHY SOME PRAYERS ARE NOT ANSWERED BY GOD

Text: “Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.” – Jonah 2:1, 2.

Comment: When one has sinned against God and is under punishment, one should give himself to repentance and seek the face of God for forgiveness. Jonah prayed to God from the belly of the fish which would have been his grave if not for the mercies of God on him. Again, this tells us that it is never too late to pray to God for His help and forgiveness.  Jonah was at the point of death, but he sought the face of God for forgiveness and was granted.  God Almighty spoke through Isaiah the Prophet: “Come now and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.  If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” – Isaiah 1:18-20.
