Theme: OVERCOMING BEHAVIOURAL DISORDER

Text: “…And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger. I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee”. – Luke 15:17, 18.

Comment: No matter how long and how far one has been in a wrong way, one should and can still turn back. The parable of the prodigal son illustrated the importance of examining one’s behaviour in line with 2nd Corinthians 13:5 and resolving to make positive change by God’s grace. Motivation to change can also be learned from Hebrew 11:24-27: “By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward…” (See also Isaiah 1:18, 19) Upon return of the prodigal son, he was forgiven by the father. – Luke 15:19-24.
