Theme: REMEMBER LOT’S WIFE
Text: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” – Mark 8:36, 37.–
Comment: Many people are today obsessed with materialism, falling into “temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.” (1 Timothy 6:9) In addition to wealth, gaining the whole world refers to other material acquisitions coupled with luxury and pleasures money can afford. When one prioritizes the pursuit of materialism, it exposes one to licentious lifestyle, carnality and a drowning interest in theocratic pursuit. “As I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters. Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.” – Ezekiel 16:48-50.
