Theme: INTEGRITY

Text: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” – Jeremiah 17: 9, 10.

Comment: The heart of man is delicate, malleable, it can mislead one if not made to be in harmony with God’s Word: its contents dictate, and affect man’s thoughts and actions; and invariably affect his integrity; and public perception of his character, image or name. (Titus 1:15, 16) The heart is of such crucial importance for man’s survival in this world, and salvation in God’s Kingdom: hence King Solomon counseled, “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23) When a person turns away from God, it is his heart that is hardened (Isaiah 63:17); when he opens his heart to receive the laws of God, such ones become better persons doing the will of God for His blessings and salvation at the end.  God rewards acts of integrity as dictated by man’s heart. – 1 Samuel 16:6, 7; 1 Kings 8:39.
