Theme: SPIRITUAL MINDEDNESS, KEY TO HEALTHY LIVING

Text: “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” – 2 Peter 1:10-11.

Comment: Those who are privileged to be in the light of Christ will be dedicated to His service, they will trust firmly in Him and not be given to endless fears about the future. Such ones would not fold their hands and do nothing by eating the bread of idleness. (Proverbs 31:27). They will support the work of God with all their strength by being  zealous of good works. (Matthew 22:34-40; Titus 2:11-14) They will eagerly and gladly study the scriptures to get knowledge, to understand the will of God as taught them by the anointed servants or their helpers.  (Proverbs 19:2; Hosea 4:6)  Those who are spiritually minded will not compromise their faith.  (James 4:4; 2 Corinthians 6:14-18) They will not after they had known God, turn again to the “weak and beggarly elements.” – (Galatians 4:9,10; 2:18) They will also invite others to know the truth. – Revelation 22:17.

Moreover those who are spiritually minded will strive to cultivate the qualities listed by St. Peter in 2 Peter 1:5-7 which include diligence, faith, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, charity. The apostle added: “For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.”  – 2 Peter 1:8, 9.
