Theme: DEMANDS OF TRUE DISCIPLESHIP

Text: “Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.” – 1 Corinthians 10:21.

Comment: Having been called into the way of truth and righteousness, true Christians are expected to have a non-compromising attitude as far as the worship of God Almighty Whose holy Name is JEHOVAH is concerned. Jesus Christ our Lord and Master did not associate with the false religious leaders of his time (Scribes, Pharisees, Sadducees, etc) rather, he denounced them by exposing their hypocritical way of life. (Matthew 23:27, 28)  Again, Jesus Christ stated that worship led by such false religious leaders was unacceptable to God, no matter how glamorous and exciting such worship may appear. (Matthew 15:7-9)

Today, many false religious leaders  preach falsehood, garnishing it with sweet words of prosperity, breakthrough, miracles, deliverance etc to win the hearts of the simple. (1 John 4:1;  Romans 16:17,18).  Unfortunately, some have been carried away to compromise their faith and begin to profess doctrines of devils as preached by such false prophets. (1 Timothy 4:1-3) St. Paul admonished true Christians to dissociate themselves from anything that answers to unrighteousness so as to be true children of God. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18) Our Saviour also asserted: “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” – Matthew 6:24.
