Theme: SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Text: “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” – Ephesians 5:15-17.

Comment:  In this charge to Christians, St. Paul urges us to be careful and cautious knowing that dangers surround us and that the devil is always ready to slip the banana peel on us. Those who seek God and His Kingdom do show forth the fruits of the spirit. (Galatians 5:22, 23) The knowledge of the truth enables us to know what had happened before, what is happening now and what the future holds.   We should not for any moment allow ourselves to be carried away by the devil’s devices as to give ourselves to sinful pleasures.  We should avoid the mad quest for money and position without regard for God and His laws, public good, order and decency, etc.;  the no-holds-barred determination to climb to the top, and, having attained that, to kick the ladder away, (so that others cannot climb up). We should see ourselves as sojourners in this world, people who are seeking the world to come. – Hebrews 13:14.

God’s children should therefore not be spiritually careless but always alert and spiritually minded. Luke 21:36, Our Saviour enjoins us thus: “Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” – Luke 21:36.
