Theme: COMMENTARY ON THE BOOK OF MARK CHAPTERS 1-6

Text: “And saying the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel”.-Mark 1:15

Comment: God is the God of order and so works according to time. Jesus Christ told his disciples, that it is Jehovah’s prerogative to set times and seasons for His work. (Acts 1:7)  Thus, our Lord Jesus Christ was born when the fullness of time had come. (Galatians 4:4; Ephesians 1:10)  Worshipers of God must also wait on the Lord as He would certainly “give them their meat in due season”. St. Peter exhorted, “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.” (Psalm 104:27; 1 Peter 5:6) Those who go before God out of haste or anxiety do get into trouble. Jesus Christ exhorted: “In your patience possess ye your souls.” (Luke 21:19) According to the text for today, the anointing of  Christ took place when the time had come.

People are required to accept the truth in order to enter God’s Kingdom. (Compare Matthew 9: 9-13) Christ told the unbelieving Jews in those days, “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46) It is the same message the ministers of Christ have been proclaiming. As St. Paul charged the people at Lystra, all people are admonished to turn from the “vanities” they had been worshipping and serve the living God for He only made heaven, and earth and all things therein. – Acts 14:15, 16.
