Text: “Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shall not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shall not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” – Romans 13:8, 9.
Comment: The admonition for today clearly shows that the duty we owe ourselves is to love one another. The Bible shows that to love God with all our heart is the first and great commandment while “…the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” (Matthew 22:35-40) When we have love, we will not default in any of the laws of God because it is the supreme and greatest commandment. (Romans 13:10) As the text says, one who has love, will not kill, steal, bear false witness, covet or commit any other sin against God and his fellow men. If people would continue to show love and abhor hatred, there will be relative peace and tranquility in the world. – Hebrews 13:1.
