Theme: LOOK TO YOURSELF

Text: “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.” – Ephesians 5:3-5.

Comment: Those who are single should avoid the temptation of joining people of the world to be loose to the extent of indulging in fornication, either for the purpose of adventure, or to be seen as having “grown up”.  Fornication is a sin and is fraught with several dangers including unwanted pregnancies, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, such as HIV/AIDS; dislocation of one’s education and career and above all, God’s punishment.  The people who surrounded Lot where very wayward people who indulged in homosexuality, but he did not join them.  Rather he was constantly “vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked” and so was delivered when Sodom and Gomorrah were overthrown.  According to the Bible in Basic English God “sent destruction on Sodom and Gomorrah, burning them up with fire as an example to those whose way of life might in the future be unpleasing to him; And kept safe Lot, the upright man, who was deeply troubled by the unclean life of the evil-doers (Because the soul of that upright man living among them was pained from day to day by seeing and hearing their crimes)”. – 2 Peter 2:6-8.

Apostle Paul declared: “But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” – 1 Timothy 6:11, 12.
