Theme: Fruits of the Spirit

Text: “Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.” – Colossians 3:12, 13.

Comment: Kindness is an essential fruit of the Spirit that is mentioned among others that people of God should cultivate in their lives. Kindness is a benevolent or compassionate attitude towards other people. “Little deeds of kindness, little words of love, Make our Earth an Eden…”, so says a writer. The kindness of Abraham and Manoah, the father of Samson is legendary in that both entertained angels unawares (Genesis 18:1-10; Judges 13:1-25) Elisha the prophet was sustained by the kindness of the great woman of Shunem. (2 Kings 4:9,10.) In the New Testament, the apostles testified that Jesus “went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with him.” – Acts 10:38.
