Theme: WATCH AND PRAY

Text: “Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.” – Jeremiah 8:7.

Comment: The stork (a large wading bird) in the sky knows the appropriate season to migrate.  While the turtle and swallow and the crane observe the time of their coming.  They all return at God’s appointed time each year.  But those who claim to be children of God do not obey or subject themselves to the laws and judgment of God.  They allow the divine appointment to pass unobserved.

Men and women, because of cares of this life and not having the laws of God in their heart, fall into diverse snares and traps of the devil.  King Solomon declared: “My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments…Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man”. (Proverbs 3:1-4).  People of the world must understand the signs of the times and, refrain from evil and amend their ways to be in favour of the Almighty God by His grace.

St. Paul admonished Christians concerning the times and the seasons, that the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly as a thief to a householder.  When people are saying all is quiet and safe (peace and tranquility), “then suddenly destruction cometh upon them…” – 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3.
