“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” - John 8:44
Though the devil is active in his wicked task of causing decay, destruction and death in the world, it is those who give themselves to him that are ready tools for him to use. This text also highlights the fact that people should know the source or cause of their troubles, and act intelligently or wisely. The devil is the one responsible for the perils, the conflicts and wars that now afflict peoples of the world. (John 10:8-10; Revelation 12:12). He has built barriers among men, religious, political and social, and created situations that make them to hate each other. He has created caste systems, and various degrees of wars, as well as poverty, oppression, injustice and so on.
To avoid the breakdown of law and order in communities, it is imperative that we apply Bible principles to know how we relate with each other – and to the spiritual angles to the problems that afflict us daily. We should know who we are, why we are created, how we live, what we want and what we can offer to each other. See Galatians 5:13-15.
