“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.” - 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

This prophecy by Apostle Paul under the inspiration of God speaks of the last days as a time when the values that make for peaceful and happy relationships among men will be trampled upon by many.  This is at the instance of the devil.  Because of developments in the communications technology the world has become a global village such that people's lives are being increasingly shaped by global forces which are breaking down traditional patterns of life in various communities.  The force of foreign cultures spread by television, video, radio, newspapers and books, have disrupted traditional concepts of neighbourhood. – respect for elders, care for the aged and for one another, integrity, moderate living, chastity, regard for marriage and the family unit etc.

Christians should not be carried away by modernism but should hold fast to the truth.  St. Paul exhorted: “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” -  Colossians 2:6-8.
