PRESS RELEASE
GKS President urges Christians to be spiritually vigilant
Christians have been charged to constantly be on their guard by being spiritually vigilant because of the danger of compromise and falling away from the way of life. The President of God’s Kingdom Society (GKS) – The Church of the Living God, Brother Felix Ekundayo Adedokun made the charge during the Church’s Freedom Day celebration at Salem City, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria – the headquarters of the Church.
In his address entitled: “Let Him That Thinketh He Standeth, Take Heed Lest He Fall”, the GKS President admonished Christians to use the word of God as a defence so that the devil will not take advantage of their weaknesses or frailty. Citing some biblical examples, he warned “against developing a sense of infallibility because of the seeming magnitude of our righteousness, duration in God’s service or perceived hefty contributions to the Church” adding that “having known the laws of God, we would be punished severely if we violate them.”
The occasion, which was held to mark the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ, witnessed an unprecedented crowd of members and friends of the Church. During the Freedom Day Divine Service, Brother Andrew Eseoghene Ekireghwo, a Minister of the Church, preached the sermon for the day entitled: Was Christ Born on Christmas Day? Other highlights of the celebration include prayers, special thanksgiving to God, musical presentations by the GKS Choir, Warri and various choral groups in the Church. There was also a reception at the GKS headquarters’ playground where those who attended were treated to entertainment with music and refreshments by God’s grace.
The GKS is an international Christian organisation established in 1934 in Lagos dedicated to the preaching of the saving gospel of Christ. She has been commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ in October since the early years of her founding, through the founding instrument, Saint Gideon M. Urhobo.
Yours faithfully,
