The President of God’s Kingdom Society (GKS), the Church of the Living God, Brother Godwin Ifeacho has warned those in power to learn from the dastardly ends of past leaders who believed they could use their positions to do as they pleased without regard for God and His word.
Speaking at the Last and Great Day of the Christian Feast of Tabernacles held at the Church headquarters at Salem City, Warri, Delta State, Nigeria, Brother Ifeacho, gave examples of such men in Biblical history as Pharaoh of Egypt, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, Goliath, the giant of the Philistines, and King Senacherib of Assyria, who, due to pride and self-will, opposed God Almighty and His people, disobeyed his commandments and thereby brought great suffering and desolation upon their people before they themselves suffered great humiliation, and in some cases, even death.
The GKS President regretted that in spite of these examples many people today place their trust not in God Almighty and His son Jesus Christ, but in their fellow men, in their power and wealth. According to him, they think all that is valuable in life is to eat, and drink and be cheerful or merry and that length of days depended on one’s affluence or wealth and magnificent style of living.
Brother Ifeacho asserted that wicked men struggle for power not for the betterment of their societies but “to live their lives on their own terms, to influence or out rightly control the behavior of people” and to have the “prerogative to make and break the rules and violate norms, without as much penalty as powerless people”.
Stating that “it is a fatal error for one not to make God his strength”, Brother Ifeacho pointed out that as many people have found out, power and money on their own do not bring lasting happiness as there are many rich people “who are lonely, distressed and who had even committed suicide”.
He ended by urging people to do the will of God in whatever situation or position they found themselves, in view of the fact that God Almighty would soon destroy this world at which time status, power, wealth, influence would be meaningless and therefore of no avail.
The eight-day Christian Feast of Tabernacles, which is an annual event in the calendar of the GKS, featured several sermons, street processions, musical presentations by no fewer than 40 choral groups and choirs from across the country, and special assemblies for the aged, women and children.
