Theme: GIVE DILIGENCE TO MAKE YOUR CALLING AND ELECTION SURE
Text: “And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end”. – Hebrew 6:11.
Comment: Salvation is the ultimate reward which the Almighty Father will give to all His faithful worshippers. (Psalm 3:8; 149:4; 1 John 2:25) It is however not instantaneous. It requires enduring diligence, unwavering faith, unrelenting self-control, being prayerful, undying perseverance and many other godly qualities and virtues. Thus, today’s text highlights the need for steadfastness and diligent service to God until the end. “For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end”. (Hebrews 3:14; 1 Corinthians 9:24-27; 1 Peter 1:9) Emphasising the need for Christians to diligently persevere so as to overcome the trying times, Christ said: “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” – Matthew 24:12, 13.
