Theme: IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD
Text: “It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night”. – Psalm 92:1, 2.
Comment: The take from today’s leading text is that, gratitude is itself a virtue. In contrast, Saint Paul prophetically informs us that the vice of being unthankful will be one of the perils of this age. (2 Timothy 3:1, 2) Gratitude to God is in keeping with His expectation from His people. Having a good understanding of this, the Psalmist says he would declare God’s goodness both at the start of day and also, “every night”. Life’s vicissitudes notwithstanding, nothing should deter us from living a thankful life, by resorting to murmuring like the Israel of old. (Numbers 11:1-20). In practical terms, thanksgiving to Him extols and magnifies God and inspires others to join us in acknowledging Him. See Psalm 126:1-3.
