Theme: KEEP THY HEART WITH ALL DILIGENCE
Text: “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.” – Proverbs 16:18.
Comment: Pride, arrogance and high-mindedness are among vices that spring from the heart. These vices brought dire consequences to some Kings in ancient times. Uzziah, son of Amaziah, started well as King of Judah, but when he became established, “…his heart was lifted up to his destruction”, and he went to perform the duty of the priests by burning incense in the temple. Consequently, God struck him with leprosy on his forehead and he died a leper. (2 Chronicles 26:1-7, 16-21) Pride starts from the heart, so too humility starts from the heart. As true worshippers of God, we should not allow our strength, skill, talent, gift, ability or flair in performing several many activities in the work of God make pride to enter into our heart. – Jeremiah 9:23, 24; 1 Peter 5:5, 6.
