Text: “And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.” – 1 Kings 18:21.
Comment: Lukewarmness is a precursor to unbelief and ultimately apostasy. The children of Israel were caught in a situation where they shared God’s reverence with Baal, a popular idol in those days as stated in today’s text. Elijah, in that conquest, showed that the Most High God is Great and Almighty. (1 Kings 18:21-38) Some Christians today are caught in between whole heartedly following God’s instructions as expounded by the Church, with worldly acclaimed celebrations. As a result of this, such Christians gradually drift away from the true worship. Christ warned the Laodicean Christians against Lukewarmness, as it is written: “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth (withdraw His grace). – Revelations 3:14-16. (Parenthesis ours).
