Theme: SERVING GOD IN SINCERITY AND IN TRUTH

Text: “For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.” Psalm 5:9.

Comment: Where there is no sincerity and truth based on the fear of God, people will be undoing one another, struggling for offices, or using whatever positions or offices they occupy for personal aggrandizement, settling of scores, personal, group or family interests and not the interests of the Kingdom. “They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.” (Psalm 12:2) In the words of Apostle James, those who habour bitter envying and strife in their hearts are walking contrary to the truth. “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” – James 3:13-16. See also James 4:1.

Those who fail to key in to the minimum standard required of Christians, which is to serve the Lord with sincerity, mark themselves as opposers of the work of God and cannot escape punishment.  St. Paul stated, “For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.” (1 Corinthians 11:18,19) We should strive to keep to the “first principles”, the basic tenets of our faith, lest the Lord Himself will gather us out of His kingdom and use others to carry on His work. –  Matthew 13:41; 1 Peter 4:17, 18; Psalm 51:10-13.
