Theme: ABIDING IN THE SECRET PLACE OF THE MOST HIGH
Text: “One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.” – Psalm 27:4.
Comment: The most profitable decision one can make, especially in a world laden with distress and perplexity, is to run to the protection of the Most High, by taking a firm stand on the path of truth and holiness “while it is called Today”. In a brilliant exposition to the people of Athens on the personality of the God they should worship, Apostle Paul, among other things, stated: “That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us”. – Acts 17:27.
To everyone who diligently seeks the help of God, He is nigh, especially when they seek Him in truth. In the text following, David in his psalm points to one of the benefits of abiding in God’s house, when he declared, “For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.” (Psalm 27:5) Earlier, Joshua, the successor of Moses, had made the resolve on behalf of himself and his household, to serve the Almighty God. (Joshua 24:15) The benefits accruing therefrom are tremendous. In addition one would be ushered into the everlasting kingdom of God. With this understanding, King David said: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.” – Psalm 23:6.
