Theme: DILIGENCE IN GOD’S SERVICE
Text: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” – Proverbs 4:23.
Comment: The heart, being the seat of thought and emotions which control our actions should be guarded jealously. Satan the devil exercising his vile influence over man could interfere in the heart of people and make it defiled. Such state of defilement can engender sin and death at the end. (Mark 7:14-23; Titus 1:15, 16; Jeremiah 17:9,10) The leading text for today enjoins us to take the painstaking effort to check our hearts and see to it that it is pure or undefiled in our service to the Almighty by His grace. In his charge to Solomon his son, King David declared: “And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.” – 1 Chronicles 28:9.
