Theme: IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD
Text: “There is none holy as the LORD: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.” – 1 Samuel 2:2, 8.
Comment: The confident assurance that the Creator of the ends of the earth is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,” justifies the assertion that He is a “refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Ephesians 3:20; Psalm 46:1) Hannah’s experience with delayed conception is a reminder of Satan’s distress with which he compasses God’s worshippers, while on their onward march to the promised land. Worth commending however, is the approach with which she confronted her condition. According to the account, she committed her cause to Him that judgeth righteously, “and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore”. (1 Samuel 1:10; Philippians 4:6, 7) Again, after her request had been granted by God Almighty, she again did not fail to return to Him to give thanks, in addition to paying her vow and God later blessed her with additional five children to His glory. – 1 Samuel 2:20, 21.
