Theme: LORD, TO WHOM SHALL WE GO?

Text: “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.” – Hebrews 10:22, 38.

Comment: Today’s devotional aptly introduces an important aspect of what it means to have truly come to God. True conversion goes beyond physically associating oneself with the true organisation; it entails a heartfelt acceptance of the truth, total submission to the dictates of God’s ordinances/requirements, spiritual rebirth and demonstration of absolute faith in God. (Romans 12:1, 2; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Hebrews 11:6) The God of Truth has called us into His marvellous light, not for destruction, but to “obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ”. (1 Thessalonians 5:9) This invitation makes no provision for fence-sitting or inconsistency. (John 8:31, 32) The benefits in sticking to God and His Son, Jesus Christ, are sure. “If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.” – Job 36:11.
