Theme: WHY DO THE WICKED PROSPER AND LIVE LONG?
Text: “Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour’s service without wages, and giveth him not for his work”. – Jeremiah 22:13.
Comment: The punishment of the wicked is certain. The time for this punishment is while they are alive, and this punishment from God Almighty will lead to their everlasting destruction except they repent. (Isaiah 2:11, 12, 14-21. See also Amos 9:1-4; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9) Today’s devotional clearly indicates that unjust acquisition will bring woe, that is, destruction upon those who pursue it. “As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.” (Jeremiah 17:11; Proverbs 28:20, 22) However, before the destruction of the wicked, the gospel of peace is now being preached so that the wicked may hear it, repent of their sins and be saved. – Ezekiel 18:30-32; 33:11; Matthew 24:14.
